Doom and Gloom you say? Not if I can help it!

I’ve heard a fair amount of prophetic “bad news” lately from various reliable sources. Don’t worry about how you feel about that yet, read on…

When I hear this or that bad thing is about to happen here or there, my response is simple:

Not if I can help it.

Why?

If we look at the (fairly well known) lords prayer we notice we are given a simple prayer model to follow which should inform our prayers and choices in life as well. To quote from it:

“Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven”

This is the Father’s (of Jesus) plan, this is what he wants, good things happening everywhere, not bad things. In the kingdom of heaven we read that there is all manner of good things, and no bad things. Simply put, it’s heavenly.

Our response to foresight that shows bad things happening, from any source regarding any area (financial, relational, economic, spiritual, etc) should be something along the lines of “Not if I can help it” and it most often is. So when we hear of our national economies going down the tubes, or something else rather nasty, we have the right and/or ability to do something about it in a practical/natural sense, but we also have a right and a mandate to pray and act towards something heavenly happening. I’m not perfect in either actions or prayer, but at the very least this understanding informs and motivates my actions and prayers, and that can’t be bad.

I hope that is a good start at explaining what we do with prophetic messages of impending bad… pray and act for the opposite. I’m open to preparation as well, but that comes after I pray and act for the opposite…a Churchill quote is probably in order here…but I’ll leave it be :)

An Amnesty or a Dream

I wanted to take a few seconds to post my thoughts on immigration amnesty in the US of A. I recognize that as a Canadian I don’t have all the facts and certainly do not have all the feelings, nor experience, but for a long time I’ve had a simple understanding that for me cuts thru the FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt).

People are of value.

People bring something to the table with them, the desire to succeed, the desire and capability to create wealth. When a person says, those _______ are going to ‘steal our jobs’ I just don’t have too much headroom for that thinking, because it’s people that create wealth not the lack thereof.

One thing every western country needs is more people, not less. People even create people, and then, those people create wealth. Or better put, they create lives, for themselves and their children.

So one more time, real simply, people are of extreme value to an economy, every person. Those that take chances when told they cannot should be prized, they’re the ones that teach us about risk:reward. The issues that remain can and should be dealt with, but not by shutting the doors to protect what could be yours from someone who might work for it harder than you…remember people create the opportunity, and wealth they desire, with their own hand(s).

Δ = iAd

Maybe I’m the last guy to figure this out but…

Apple and it’s tirade against Flash(of the Adobe variety) may well be about batteries in it’s lovely phones and compelling devices, and security and performance for all…but since when do those require politician style machinations??

It’s also about this:

A good chunk of ad dollars made on the net are delivered via Flash

iAd would like to trump that, and can - HTML5 is highly compelling and much more accessible in the long run, but you need Apples help. If you’re on Apple’s operating systems you get help for free (No Flash in IOS & unbundled from OSX). But otherwise you just need to take their word for it and stop using Flash if at all possible.

Apple will endeavor to help you to forgo Flash and all it’s awfulness and as a side benefit Apple will drive down ad dollars for those who have built their most compelling Ad platform tech around Flash, and put pressure on Content owners to switch to a higher performing, obviously lovely ad platform.

Hat’s off. This one works. I don’t think even I can call this Anti-Competitive, it’s just chess. Only hitch is some of the more controlling aspects of placing ads but apple might fix since this will take a little longer than they want… And don’t worry Adobe’s creative apps will be rescued and improved - like Final Cut was :)

Apphell/Apple

#2 in the world by market capitalization and behaving more and more like a tyrant

Social & Economic responsibility is important, for example: the most superest green laptop, giving back, not being evil and stuff like that… These days when you are an economy unto yourself that’s occasionally mandated by governments, i.e. too big to fail crap and the occasional fair enough anti-trust case (occasional fair since there should be more…like to stop Oracle’s take over of Sun..that was for patents in case you weren’t paying attention)

I love Apple…I hate Apple…They wont learn, they’re building a bright future on a foundation of greed I think, which will go too far and then there’ll be an opportunity for someone, that is if there is anything left to patent
